ESSENTIALS of FIREFIGHTING

Welcome

We are excited to have you in the next Essentials of Firefighting course. This website will assist you in getting registered for each of the four modules that make up the full Essentials of Firefighting class. As we approach the start date of each module you will receive an informational email confirming your registration.

As you progress through the fire service you will recieve certificates for many different courses a long the way. The certificates you receive are your responsibility to keep in a safe place personally. It is reccomended that you get some type of portfolio or filing system started to keep all of these documents in a safe place.  You should only provide copies of certificates to your fire chief or training officer for your department files. (Keep the Originals) You will also begin creating log in and passwords for various platforms. We recommend that you keep notes on your smartphone with the log in information to these websites.

 

During the course you will be  assigned to obtain your FEMA National Incident Management System Incident Command classes online. You can begin taking these courses online immediately as you wait for the start date of class. Follow these links to get started.

2. Use FEMA SID to take IS-100.C Introduction to the Incident Command System ICS-100 Click Here

3. Use FEMA SID to take IS-700.B An Introduction to the National Incident Management System Click Here

You will also be obtaining Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations and CPR, AED, First Aid during this class. By the time you finish the last and final module with live fire training you will have obtained all the prerequisites to take the Firefighter-I Proboard test.

As program space is limited, CHAR-WEST reserves the right to suspend any student who registers for a program and does not show up without cancelling out of the program prior to the start of the class. The suspension will be for a one year period. 

If such "no-shows" occur as a group from a single fire department, the Academy reserves the right to suspend the entire department from attending courses sponsored by CHAR-WEST for the period of one year.  

To cancel and avoid being a "no-show," submit this form.
